We are very pleased to announce that the Starship Foundation has agreed to participate in the 2009 Choptober campaign. Please visit our "Charities" tab or http://www.starship.org.nz/ to learn more about this wonderful organisation.

Cholmondeley has been choosen as the cornerstone charity for a very special Ball that will be held at the Convention Centre on the 29th August 2009.

A Day at Sea with the Navy      
A three night ‘Cruise’ onboard the Navy’s new Amphibious Ship HMNZS CANTERBURY for 2 ( in separate cabins)
Boarding in Timaru on 2 Nov 09 and departing in Nelson on 5 Nov 09. The ship will sail from Timaru at 1000 on 2 Nov and arrive in Nelson at 1000 on 5 Nov.
During your time onboard you will be able to get a feel for what it is like to be a Sailor in the Royal New Zealand Navy. Activities include – a full ship’s tour including the engine room, an hour of ship handling (where the winner will be able to drive an 8500t ship!!!), a ride in a RHIB (Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat – kind of like a speed boat), and a flight in the ship’s helicopter.

Well things are certainly busy in the Choptober camp at the moment! We are pleased to announce that Ronald McDonald House Charities, SIDS New Zealand, Cholmondeley Children’s Home and Southern Stars have all agreed to be involved in the 2009 campaign! We welcome all of these charities to the Choptober Whanau and look forward to raising much needed funds for their causes. Please visit the Charities page on this site and learn all about these great organisations.

We will begin seeking corporate sponsors for the campaign in the near future. If you are a potential sponsor, please visit the Contacts Page for an email address.

There will be more announcements in the coming weeks as we confirm other charities and sponsors. Please be sure to regularly check the site as we ramp up towards Choptober.
